Nonviolent Communication and Conflict Management

One strategy I learned this week about resolving conflict is to work toward creating a supportive environment. This type of environment would be a place where each person could voice their concerns in a respectful manner and not be judged.  If people feel safe in an environment, they are more likely to be honest about their feelings.
Another thing that I learned about resolving conflict is that just because a conflict is not resolved does not mean it is not productive.  With that being said implementing the nonviolent communication concepts and Gerber's 3R's would be very helpful in creating  productive conflict, resulting in healthy debate, better decision making and relationship growth.

  1. You are absolutely right on the importance in creating a safe enviornment in order to resolve conflict. When we are comfortable with the people we are interacting with, the more open we are with voicing our opinions and feelings.
