Research and Early Childhood

The link that I decided to follow was the sub-Saharan African site.  Within this site there were several research topics that were common to United States areas of interest.     Things such as building community leadership for quality early childhood programs or finding out what the perceptions are of parents what quality early childhood programs should look like.  One thing that I thought was noteworthy in the research of parents knowing what quality early learning experiences should look like is that their perceptions of early learning experiences were in line of what is appropriate.  The recommendations were to have parents always be a part of the advisory board which is completely in line with early learning organization such as Head Start.
Another resource I discovered was the Early Childhood Virtual University, School of Child and Youth Care University of Victoria. This school uses what is called a generative approach.  I had never heard of this before, but it is very thorough, it included things such as learner focused, capacity building approach, historical approach and multi-cultural approach.

  1. Gloria,

I have never heard of the generative approach either. It appears there are several curriculums on this site that I have never heard of; capacity building approach and historical approach. I am going to have to do some research myself to discover what these approaches have in common with the theories and curriculums that we have here in the US. Very intereseting.

    Thank you for sharing.
