One hope that I have when I think about working with children and families who come from diverse backgrounds is that all people would be treated with respect and dignity no matter what. My hope would be the inequities would cease to exist amongst all people.
A goal that I would set for the field of early childhood in relation to diversity, equity and social justice is that professionals in this field will learn to see the value in teaching very young children about such things in developmentally appropriate and creative ways.
As this class ends, I want to take the time to say thank you to all of my colleagues, it has been an amazing journey. Wishing you all the best as we continue this life long journey of discovery.

ReplyDeleteI love how you mentioned that we should teach creatively and developmentally appropriate ways which is often times not considered because we become so involved in getting the message across. It is very important that we teach the child on their level to make the lesson more meaningful so that they can apply it to their everyday lives. I have enjoyed reading your posts and wish you much success with the completion of your degree.
